Ashley Humphreys meets with the BBC and a local Imam to discuss physical, emotional and ethical issues that he has had surrounding his circumcision. In his own words in the accompanying video:
“My choice for myself is that I want a whole and complete body, but I cannot choose that because someone else chose for me a long, long time ago.”
“There are many sufferers around the world and it seems like we’re all being silenced…”
This highlights some of the difficulties and obstacles that many who suffer adverse affects of circumcision encounter, and the video is a testament to the bravery of those who share their story.

I, like Ashley, have lived a life feeling that I have been mutilated and somehow different to how I should be. As a child I repeatedly suffered severe pain as a result of the circumcision and this has definitely left me mentally and emotionally scarred. It’s not something that has ever been discussed and I’ve always felt that it’s not something I can talk about.
Total crime. Circumcision should be last resort after 1.stretching with creams, 2.preputioplasty 3.Partial circumcision on top. There is organization FOREGEN.ORG developing foreskin regeneration butt they don’t have enough support/spreading word for this controversial topic.
I hope Foregen works out. I really wish I was educated more when I was recommended circumcision at 10. I could have easily tried more stretching techniques and be given resources that show you how to clean it properly. It’s generally made me suicidal and that’s not uncommon
I like Ashley was circumcised as a small boy (8 years old). Just like him I have never got over it and I am going on 70 years old now. Its not something I could even talk to my twin brother about as he wasn’t circumcised, unlike me. At one point my mother found a report I had written about my life with a mutilated penis, but all she said was it never effected you! I still can’t talk about it, only to say that I have never had a real life.
