Eric Clopper – Intact Global
Several event attendees have expressed an interest in hearing from other organisations and individuals that are working towards recognition of circumcision harm. We are happy to announce that Eric Clopper from Intact Global has agreed to discuss his latest Initiative – to bring gender equality to Oregon with regards to male, intersex, and female genital cutting.
As many of you know, 15 Square have found the legal basis for circumcision to be one of the most ambiguous, contradictory, and contentious area of this subject matter. In light of this, we believe that reminding law makers and policy writers that we are here is essential to discourage them from introducing worse policies and laws. Eric and his team are going one step further by trying to raise the bar in Oregon, which may provide a working blueprint for improvement across other states in America.
This is a difficult battle but one that 15 Square will be watching closely. We are grateful that Eric has taken the time to speak to our members and supporters, and we look forward to welcoming attendees this Sunday.

plaintiffs suffered and continue to suffer harm because Oregon’s child genital cutting policy treats males disparately from females, and
declaring Oregon’s anti-female genital mutilation statutes unconstitutional would not make female genital mutilation legal or make medically necessary male circumcision illegal, nor would it unduly burden religious, parental, or other interests.”
Eric will be talking about the strategy and progress of the case, and how the success of this case would be a crucial first step in better recognition of harm.

On March 23rd we were glad to have been joined by Leeanne Morris for an insight into trauma and the physiological challenges that trauma can introduce to day to day life. This presentation was part of a series of talks that we hope to continue providing for the benefit of 15 Square members.
Having discussed the psychological impacts and effects of trauma, we are excited to announce that we have speakers arranged to discuss legal challenges, and another to discuss shortcomings and failures in healthcare.

Our next talk will be from Neil Walbran. Neil is one a 15 Square trustee who is also Chief Officer of a healthcare watchdog here in the UK. Whilst this talk is from a UK perspective, this talk will talk about the healthcare priorities of medical institutions and the conflict with individual wellbeing and autonomy.
Many circumcised men feel as though healthcare providers let them down, and do not give them sufficient choice or information to take control of their own healthcare. Neil’s presentation will critique the “one size fits all” approach that is designed to get rid of healthcare users as fast as possible with little autonomy given to them in order to address their wellbeing or personal choice in accessing healthcare and treatment.
Neil Walbran – People versus pathways in the UK NHS
A review of the fragmented care system and its effect on prescribed medication within regulated treatment pathways.
